What is a bullet camera?

A bullet camerais a cylindrical security camera that is immediately recognizable and visible due to its shape. This very visibility has a strong preventative effect: intruders can see the camera from a distance. Thanks to its fixed bracket, the viewing angle can be easily directed towards, for example, a driveway, facade, or entrance gate. This makes bullet cameras particularly suitable for outdoor use, but they are also sometimes deliberately placed indoors for visible surveillance.

Advantages of bullet cameras

Bullet cameras combine a sturdy housing with ease of use and high-quality image.

  • Weatherproof and robust:resistant to rain, cold, and sun.
  • Visible and deterrent:extra preventative effect.
  • Easy to aim:quickly set the correct viewing angle.
  • Razor-sharp image:modern sensors provide clear images, even in the dark.
  • Flexible storage:on a recorder, microSD, or as part of a security camera set.

Indoor or outdoor, wireless or wired

Most bullet cameras are mounted outdoors. The housing is dustproof and waterproof and therefore resistant to harsh conditions. For those who prefer quick and flexible installation, there are also wireless variants. View our range of Wi-Fi camerasfor cable-free solutions.

If you want to expand later or build a complete system, individual security camerasare a smart choice.

Night vision: IR and full-color

Many bullet cameras are equipped with infrared night vision, which provides clear black-and-white images at night. Newer models feature full-color night vision, ensuring that colors remain visible even in very dark situations. This makes them ideal for driveways or dark corners around your home.

Installation and use

A bullet camera is usually mounted on a wall or under a roof overhang, at a height of approximately 2.5–3 meters. Point the lens slightly downwards to capture faces and movements effectively. Outdoors, a wired connection is often the most stable, while indoors or over shorter distances, Wi-Fi is a convenient alternative.
